I bought a Mapex Armory drum kit for a superb price, but when I started looking at everything that came with it, I realised this could be one of the biggest bargains I’ve found in the past 12 months.
This isn’t just a Mapex Armory shell pack. The deal included a huge amount of drum hardware, cymbals and snare drums, including an Armand Zildjian ride cymbal, a Mapex Peacemaker snare and a Pork Pie USA snare. The Mapex kit itself is a 6-piece shell pack with a 22″ bass drum, 10″, 12″, 14″ and 16″ toms, finished in a striking red-to-black lacquer.
But the really interesting part is how I found it. There were only four photos on the original listing, so I messaged the seller and asked for more. That gave me a much better idea of what was actually included — and I think there’s potentially £1,600–£1,700 worth of gear here.
In this video I take a closer look at the Mapex Armory drum kit, the cymbals, rare and unusual snare drums, hardware and all the extras that made this deal so interesting. I’ll also explain exactly what I paid and whether I think there’s money to be made by selling the kit on.
If you enjoy used drum kits, Mapex drums, drum kit bargains, vintage and second-hand drum gear, rare snare drums, cymbals, eBay finds and buying and selling musical equipment, you’ll enjoy this one.
And if you’re looking for used gear yourself, always ask the seller for more photos. In this case, it made a massive difference.
