In this video, I’m sharing a simple bass lesson using my 1965 Fender Precision Bass.
Many of you asked for a bass lesson after seeing my recent Shorts, so I wanted to dive into some fundamental concepts. We’ll focus on building walking bass lines in the key of A, exploring ascending and descending patterns, and understanding how to follow the sound rather than just thinking about scales.
What you’ll learn:
Basic root and fourth movements.(chord progression)
How to use chromatic notes to lead into chord changes.
Different phrasing techniques, including “two-beat” feel and shuffles.
The importance of understanding intervals like the 5th and major 3rd in your lines.
I also share a bit about why I love this 1965 P Bass and how playing bass has helped my overall musicality and guitar playing.
